Native macOS utility · In active development

IconVitals: Your Mac, made visible.

IconVitals is a private native macOS menu-bar monitor for CPU, memory, network, battery, thermals, full-screen vitals, background work, and on-demand speed testing.

One click from the menu bar

IconVitals presents live CPU and memory history, disk use, network throughput, load averages, uptime, battery condition, power state, and supported thermal information with one-second updates.

Features

  • Customizable menu-bar vitals and gauge
  • A floating full-screen overlay across macOS Spaces
  • Background Mode that keeps work running while the display sleeps
  • Manual latency, download, and upload speed testing
  • Native Open at Login support

Privacy and accurate system information

IconVitals has no telemetry, accounts, analytics, privileged helper, or kernel extension. The only internet connection is the speed test the user explicitly starts.

The FPS value reports display refresh cadence rather than another app’s true rendered frame rate. Thermal information is limited to the supported macOS thermal state and available battery sensor temperature.

Questions and answers

Does IconVitals need special permissions?

No special permissions are required for normal monitoring. Login item approval may be requested by macOS when Open at Login is enabled.

Does Background Mode disable normal sleep forever?

No. It creates a native power assertion only while active. When input wakes the display, the assertion is released and normal power management returns.

Does the speed test run automatically?

No. Network testing starts only when you press Start. The app uses an ephemeral session and does not retain the test data.

Is IconVitals available now?

IconVitals is in active development and is currently built for macOS. A public release channel will be added when the product is ready.
